(A) Chronically instrumented, conscious monkeys were connected to a tether to record data, but otherwise unrestrained in their cage during recording. (B) The animals were instrumented with thoracic aortic catheters for measurement of aortic pressure and ultrasonic dimension crystals, on opposing surfaces of the thoracic and abdominal aorta, for measurement of aortic diameters. (C) Examples of phasic measurements of aortic pressure and diameters in a young adult monkey (reprint from Zhang et al., 2016).
