This image was taken at 28 days after full-thickness skin was excised from the patterned area on abdominal skin (see Supplementary Video S2). Blood capillaries for cutaneous respiration, which surrounded exocrine glands, extended from the wound margin, accompanying the migration of melanophores. Interestingly, capillaries were located under the region where single melanophores covered them. Scale bars: 500 μm.
