Relationship between the traditional histologic classification and the molecular classification. Each traditional histologic diagnosis is connected to the representing molecular subgroup. The thicker the connecting line, the stronger the relationship. The figure demonstrates that each molecular subgroup can be detected in each histologic subgroup. Yet, the NSMP is mainly reflected by grade 1 and 2 EEC (left in the figure), whereas the p53abn cancers are mainly reflected by patients with SC (right in the figure). EEC: endometrioid endometrial cancer; CCC: clear cell carcinoma; SC: serous cancer; NSMP: nonspecific molecular profile; MMRd: mismatch repair deficient; POLE: POLE ultramutated; p53abn: copy number high/TP53 mutated.
