Note the slightly higher glial density and higher glia:neuron ratios in the cetacean brains compared to the artiodactyls studied. In addition, the orexinergic bouton density in the cetacean cerebral cortex is substantially lower than that seen in artiodactyl cerebral cortex, especially so for anterior cingulate cortex.
