The cytologic features range from typical “hairy cells” showing prominent circumferential cytoplasmic projections, rounded nuclei, spongy chromatin, and inconspicuous/absent nucleoli to cells with less prominent cytoplasmic projections, more finely dispersed chromatin m, and occasional prominent nucleoli.
