The hypothetical mechanism of interaction of CB-peptide conjugates with cellular membranes is demonstrated. Not shown is endocytosis, which we observed as one of the preferred internalization pathways (see Figure 3). Left: low concentrations of CB-CPP conjugates interact with the outer surface of the plasma membrane, leading to pore formation events and potential membrane distortion. Right: high concentrations of CB-peptide conjugates might result in potential self-assembly processes.
