In vivo real-time imaging of microglia (mpeg1:mCherry+, magenta) engulfing AO+ cells (green) in the developing zebrafish retina, 54 to 62 hours post fertilization. Overlap of magenta and green appears white. Timestamp shows hour:min and represents the entire imaging session. At this age, the developing eye consists nearly entirely of the retina and lens. The retina is outlined and region containing the lens is indicated. Autoflourescent iridiophores surround the surface of the developing eye which, in conjuction with DIC optics, establish the eye boundary.
