Genomic DNAs from bovine mastitis isolates of Staphylococcus spp. were digested with HindIII, and Southern blots were probed with cloned DNA fragments common to the cap5 and cap8 gene clusters (cap5ABCD and cap5LMNOP), a DNA fragment specific to the cap5 gene cluster (cap5IJK), or a DNA fragment specific to the cap8 gene cluster (cap8HIJK).
