Fig. 1 — Flow chart for identification of the cohort for the final analysis. Four hundred forty-six septic patients were recruited to the SepsisDataNet.NRW study by December 2020. Of these 60 patients were excluded due to missing data. Of the remaining 386 patients, 72 were excluded due to incomplete 30-day survival status. Another 14 patients were excluded from analysis because of a COVID-19 diagnosis and the remaining 300 patients were included in the final analysis
