Representative Cross Sections of the LV of Normoxemic Control and SSO₂ Therapy Pig Hearts

Representative cross sections of the LV of pig hearts subjected to 60 minutes of coronary artery occlusion either treated with normoxemic control (left) or SSO₂ therapy during reperfusion (right). Heart slices were incubated in triphenyl-tetrazolium chloride. The infarct appears as a white area, whereas noninfarcted, viable tissue appears red.
