The black sections indicate that at least one strain in the ST had acquired resistance (AMR) to at least one antimicrobial class. The red stars indicate that at least one strain in the ST was MDR (i.e. had acquired resistance to at least three antimicrobial classes). The pie chart in the middle shows the overall prevalence of MDR C. difficile (black), C. difficile resistance to 1–2 antimicrobial classes (dark grey) and pan-susceptible C. difficile (light grey) among 10 330 C . difficile strains.
