A gentamicin sulfate concentration of 1700 μM was used as a positive control for the antimicrobial effect. Bacterial cells stained with SYTO 9 and propidium iodide, but fluorescence signal of SYTO 9 is visible only since the cells are not dead, but growth of bacterial cells is inhibited. The experiments were performed in two replicates. The results were expressed as the mean ± standard deviation (M ± SD).
