Laccase was involved in cellular oxidative stress resistance of C. cinerea during interspecific interaction with Gongronella sp. w5. C. cinerea exhibited higher ROS level (A) and H2O2 content (B) in lcc9 silencing strains compared to the wild-type strain after separated coculturing for 48 h in SAHX with sucrose with Gongronella sp. w5 sealed in sterile dialysis tubes. (C, D) The lcc9 silencing strains showed higher ROS level (C) and less biomass (D) than the wild-type strain in separated cocultures when exposed to 100 mM H2O2, 2 mM guaiacol, and 0.5 mM 3, 5-dihydroxynaphthalene.
