Resuscitation of PgW83 in the VBNC state to the culturable state. Following H2O2 treatment, PgW83 was no longer culturable but viable according to Syto9 staining indicating PgW83 was in the VBNC state (see Figure 1). When treated with sodium pyruvate following H2O2 stress, PgW83 was viable (Syto9 staining not shown) and culturable on blood agar plates indicating the cells have been resuscitated.
