Overview of proposed mechanisms underlying beneficial effects of exercise on CIPN. Several biological mechanisms have been proposed to explain the relationships between exercise, CIPN, and sleep. In general, exercise counteracts the deleterious effects of chemotherapy on the nervous system by reducing inflammation, promoting brain neuroplasticity, and enhancing pain modulation pathways.
