The effect of imipramine on the metabolic parameters including bodyweight, glucose, insulin and insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), triglyceride, total cholesterol and free fatty acid in mice with or without periodontitis or metabolic syndrome (MetS). Six weeks old male C57BL/6 mice were fed HFD for 20 weeks to induce MetS and treated with LPS by periodontal injection in the last 4 weeks to induce periodontitis. Control mice were fed LFD or injected with PBS. Part of the mice were treated with imipramine 3 weeks before and 4 weeks during the LPS injection. At the end of the feeding and treatment, blood was collected, and the serum levels of the metabolic parameters were quantified. The data are mean ± SD (n=7–10).
