Instead of a 2.0 mm K-wire, a 2.0 mm drill bit can be used to esteablish the correct placement of the guide wires. Its use facilitates penetration of the lateral cortex at the desired position. As it is less flexible than a K-wire, it is more prone to break under stress. In this case the broken drill bit was retrieved via the small portal of the Chevron osteotomy with a hemostat. No conversion to open surgery was necessary
