Summary of the effects of activity-based physical therapy (ABPT) on changes in bone mineral density (BMD) at the knee (distal femur and proximal tibia) or all other sublesional non-knee sites for persons with acute/sub-acute (A) or chronic (B) SCI in aggregate. Overall, half of all acute studies and most chronic studies showed no effect on BMD at the knee or non-knee sites. For data on specific ABPT modalities see Figure 1A,B (acute/subacute SCI) or Figure 2A,B (chronic SCI).
