The workflow of an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS)-based EV isolation. Dextran (DEX) and PEG were added into plasma. After mixing and centrifugation, two phases formed with the upper phase (UP1) containing PEG and proteins. After removing UP1, a protein-depleting solution (PDS) was left and then mixed with PEG/DEX again. The lower phase containing DEX and EVs was collected after mixing, centrifugation and removing the PEG-rich phase again. This figure was adopted from reference [82].
