Hyperglycaemia/T2DM: fasting serum glucose ≥ 5.6 mmol/L or drug treatment for T2DM; Hypertension: systolic blood pressure (BP) ≥ 130 mmHg and/or diastolic BP ≥ 85 mmHg or current antihypertensive drug treatment in a patient with a history of hypertension; Low HDL cholesterol levels: serum HDL cholesterol < 1.03 mmol/Lor drug treatment for dyslipidemia. Hypertriglyceridemia: serum triglycerides > 1.7 mmol/L or current drug treatment for elevated triglycerides; High waist circumference: waist circumference ≥ 102 cm; The MetS diagnosis was made in men who fulfilled any three of the previously exposed criteria [14]
