Tn3.1^MIN increases the half-life of ampicillin and carbenicillin in the culture media. Either a single colony or an overnight culture was used to inoculate fresh LB media containing either 100 μg/mL (Tn3.1) or 20 μg/mL (Tn3.1^MIN) ampicillin or carbenicillin. Aliquots were analyzed using a semiquantitative mass spectrometry approach.
