The upper part of the model corresponds to a hidden Markov blanket (highlighted in Figure 2 in a blue box) on the left panel. The middle part of the model fits to the empirical priors (parametric empirical Bayesian scheme). The lower part of the model refers to a conventional DCM analysis of complex cross spectra within each epoch. The DCM parameter estimates then constitute the evidence for a hierarchical model of changing connectivity over epochs, estimated using parametric empirical Bayes (PEB). Some factors can be found on the right panel throughout the model (green numbered squares), corresponding to the parametric empirical Bayes.
