TABLE 1.
Patient data for peak troponin and IL-6 levels recorded for COVID-19 patients with no known cardiac dysfunctiona
Parameter | Result for patients COVID-19 positive and with no known history of cardiac diseasea |
Significance by t testb | |
---|---|---|---|
Normal LVEF | Newly reduced LVEF | ||
No. of patient samples | 165 | 41 | |
Peak IL-6, pg/mL | 111.5 (IQR, 49–296) | 146 (IQR, 63.55–355.6) | NS |
Peak troponin, ng/mL | 0.062 (IQR, 0.02–0.375) | 1.27 (IQR, 0.07–14.53) | P < 0.0001 |
Patients are broken into two groups: one with normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and the other with newly reduced LVEF (LVEF, <51). The data are presented as the median value with IQR in parentheses.
There was no significant difference (NS) between the two groups for peak IL-6, but there was a very significant difference in troponin (P < 0.0001).
