Systemic dissemination is required for T1L/T3DM2 lethality. Neonatal JAM-A^−/− mice were inoculated (A) orally with 10⁴ PFU or (B) intracranially with 100 PFU of T1L or T1L/T3DM2 viruses. For survival experiments, mice were monitored for 25 days. For titer experiments, at days 1, 2, 4, and 8, mice were euthanized, and the indicated organs were resected.
