Mechanism underlying the initiation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by BMI1. Previous studies have shown that BMI1 promotes the occurrence of HCC by blocking the INK4a/ARF locus, NF-κB signaling pathway, and TGFβ2/SMAD signaling axis and by stimulating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling axis. Besides, BMI1 and Ras/MAPK signaling work together to activate the initiation of HCC.
