(A) HNSCC cells express IL-6R and gp130. Expression of IL-6R and gp130 determined by western blot analysis in the HNSCC cell lines SAS and FaDu. The experiment was repeated three times with similar results. (B) IL-6 increases HNSCC cell migration. HNSCC cell lines, SAS, and FaDu, were subjected to a cell migration assay with or without 10 ng/ml of IL-6. HNSCC cell migration increased significantly with the addition of IL-6. The results are expressed as fold-changes relative to HNSCC cells without IL-6. Each experiment was repeated three times and the data shown are means of three measurements with SD error bars. * P < 0.05.
