Date range: 9/16/2019–2/19/2020. ^bChart review included the following considerations: ^cPurposeful sampling method was used to prioritize patients while maximizing the possible range of experiences, ages, genders, and clinical representation and severity of infections. ^dPatients declined participation for the following reasons: not interested (6), dementia/couldn’t understand us (2), didn’t recall having a bloodstream infection (2), in hospice (1). ^ePassive refusal is defined as when the interviewer was able to make contact with a patient for the screening call but wasn’t able to follow through with completing the screener (or scheduling) due to the patient not answering again after the initial contact. ^fPatients exceeded the 6–12-week window due to rescheduling requests.
