The area enclosed by the red line shows the area of the cancellous bone, and the area enclosed by the blue line shows the area of the bone marrow. The area of the cancellous bone minus the area of the bone marrow is the area of the trabecular bone. The area enclosed by the yellow line shows the area of the subchondral bone. The thickness of the subchondral bone was calculated by dividing the area of the subchondral bone by its width. Scale bar = 2 mm.
