A series of logistic regression, fractional polynomial, and generalised additive models were fitted to estimate the probability of developing female reproductive disorders as a function of obesity-related traits in UK Biobank. Predicted fits for logistic and best-fitting non-linear models were better than those for logistic regression (as evaluated with Akaike information criterion), and 95% confidence intervals about the mean are displayed. Asterisks indicate that non-linear models fit the data better than linear models. All models were adjusted for age, age squared, assessment centre, and smoking status. BMI, body mass index; spont. miscarr., spontaneous miscarriage; WHRadjBMI, waist-to-hip ratio adjusted for BMI.
