Reduced Tuba1a does not interfere with netrin-1-induced axon growth rates. (A) Primary cortical neuron cell cultures were made from Tuba1a ND/+ mice and wildtype littermates. Cells were plated on glass-bottom dishes and images were collected every 10 min for an hour. Purified Netrin-1 was then added to the dish at 500 ng/ml and images were taken every 10 min for an additional hour. (n = 77 neurons; p = 0.0057, unpaired t-test) (B). Analysis was repeated for Tuba1a ND/+ mice (n = 91 neurons; p < 0.0001, and n = 83 neurons; p = 0.0488, unpaired t-test) (C). To determine if there was a difference in stimulated growth between the wildtype and Tuba1a ND/+ mice the growth values were compared at each time point. No differences were found at any time point.
