Aortic smooth muscle cells (SMCs) were isolated from 6-week-old kl/kl and wt mice. (A), Short form Klotho protein in primary mouse aortic SMCs was assessed by Western blot. (B), Klotho mRNA in primary mouse ASMCs were detected using RT-PCR. (C), BMP2 and RUNX2 protein expression were measured in cells incubated with Klotho-deficient serum (10%) or normal serum (10%) for 5 days.
