Schematic diagram of the experimental hypothesis. Knockout of TXNIP promotes the activation of HO-1 through the Nrf2 pathway, leading to a reduction in inflammation activation. TXNIP knockout therefore exerted a protective role in cardiomyocytes. Nrf2, nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2; HO-1, heme oxygenase-1; TXNIP, thioredoxin-interacting protein.
