HIFU heating of SPIONs-laden biospecimen. An HIFU system is comprised of a function generator, a gain-variable power amplifier, a transducer, a water tank, an HIFU imaging probe, and a thermal sensor. The transducer creates an ultrasound beam which is focused to a focal point in the target tissue. The kinetic energy of the ultrasound beam is converted into thermal energy, which may cause instantaneous damage to diseased cells and tissues. This heating process may be enhanced by using SPIONs delivered in the biospecimen.
