Patient no. 172, 60-year-old male, met the FUO criteria. F-18 FDG PET/CT whole-body imaging shows pathological uptake ad the right hip joint (arrow). Previous clinical examinations suggested activated osteoarthrosis. Biopsy and blood cultures performed after F-18 FDG PET/CT confirmed infective coxitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Patient fully recovered after prolonged i.v. antibiotic treatment.
