The importance (gain) of a feature represents the total contribution each feature has in the trees of the gradient boosting model. In addition to the 53 metabolic measures, the model was adjusted for age, sex, BMI, current smoking, diabetes, antihypertensive medication, exercise, and lipid medication, and baseline SBP (only in longitudinal model).
