Physiological roles of different GLP‐1 receptor (GLP‐1R) signalling effectors. Commonly measured signalling intermediates may reflect the combined actions of different upstream effectors. These effects may be cell‐type specific. On balance, most evidence suggests that downstream physiological responses to GLP‐1 receptor activation are unlikely to uniquely depend on only one particular signalling pathway.
