Considerations for Clinicians

  • Clinicians should monitor patients not only for tobacco use, but also e-cigarette use and their associated health related problems.

  • The use of e-cigarettes is associated with elevated cardiovascular risks and adverse impact on the lungs.

  • The use of e-cigarettes is not safe for children, teens, young adults, and pregnant women, as well as adults not using traditional cigarettes.

  • The long-term health effects of the use of e-cigarettes are not known.
