Evaluation of cytotoxicity and cellular apoptosis for preosteoblasts that were cultured in the oxygen-generating scaffolds in vitro and pH measurements. a) LDH cytotoxicity assay was used to measure the levels of the cytosolic enzyme LDH released by the cells which have compromised plasma membrane, b) Caspase Glo 3/7 assay measured the luminescence intensity resulting from the caspase mediated cleavage of the reaction substrate that was released by the apoptotic cells, and c) The pH measurements for the oxygen-generating scaffolds were found to be similar for all experimental groups. (*p-value <0.05 was considered statistically insignificant).
