Fig. 2.

Fig. 2

Glucose uptake is selectively more in highly infected cells.

A. The graphical presentation depicts the methodology of co-culture of Vero and Vero E6 cells. Vero cells with relatively poor ability of infection uptake were stained with CellTrackerâ„¢ Red and co-cultured with Vero E6 cells to test if 2-NBDG accumulation is preferably favored by SARS-CoV-2 infected cells. Photomicrographs in the left panel show the 2-NBDG (green) uptake in both Vero and Vero E6 cells of indicated treatment groups whereas, the middle panel are representative of CTR (Red) stained only Vero cells in the same field and right panel micrographs are the merged representation of left and right panel for the better appreciation of differential 2-NBDG accumulation in both the cell lines (additional image panels are also provided in supplementary Fig. 4). B. The violin plot is the derived information of Fig. 2 A, indicating the median signal intensity of 2-NBDG in the indicated treatment groups (from two independent observation). The non-significant (ns) and significant change in the indicated groups were calculated with a two-tailed Student's t-test.
