Effects of irradiation on the colonization of normal and radiation-resistant pancreatic cancer (PaCa) cell lines (MIA PaCa-2 and SW1990). The number of radiation-resistant PaCa cells to be seeded (200, 400, 1,000, 2,000, or 40,000) in 60-mm dishes depended on the dose (0, 2, 4, 6, or 10 Gy). After culturing the cells overnight, irradiation was performed at doses of 0–10 Gy. (A and B) After culturing for another 14 days, the cells were fixed and stained, and the number of colonies formed was counted. The survival rate was calculated as the number of colonies divided by the number of seeded cells. (C) MIA PaCa-2 and (D) SW1990 cells.
