Sample sizes by milk type are 132 UHT, 36 fresh pasteurized, and 19 unpackaged. Statistics on which this figure is based, as well as mean bacterial concentration among positive samples, are shown in Supplementary Table S5. EHEC 0157 was classified based on phenotype and not validated as a human pathogen. Error bars represent 95% confidence intervals.
