The F. prausnitzii strains were cultured in a modified M2GSC broth that was supplemented with a given carbohydrate (final concentration 0.5%, w/v), and the OD at 600 nm was recorded after 36 h of incubation. The cultures of the F. prausnitzii strains in normal M2GSC broth were set as the positive control.
