In vitro co-culture of S. Enteritidis and lactobacilli. Sterile feed (15 g) was moistened with 15 mL of BHI with different initial ratios of S. Enteritidis and lactobacilli (defined by volumes in microliters of inocula of stock cultures with 108 CFU/mL). S. Enteritidis was completely inactivated in the feed by day 4, even in the samples in which it initially dominated over lactobacilli.
