Two-Step Approach
First step: identify at-risk patients using any validated screening tool
Second step: at least one Phenotypic and one Etiologic criterion are necessary to diagnosis.
Phenotypic Criteria: Etiologic Criteria:
  • Nonvolitional weight loss

  • Low BMI

  • Reduced muscle mass

  • Reduced food intake or assimilation

  • Disease burden/inflammation
