The cytotoxic effect of RT2 synthetic peptide against Caco-2 human colon cancer cells. Caco-2 cells were treated or not with increasing concentrations of RT2 (15, 30, 60, and 120 μM) for 24 h. (a) The percentage of cell viability was expressed as the abundance of treated Caco-2 cells relative to that of untreated Caco-2 cells. The different letter(s) on the top of each bar means there was a significant difference in the data (p < 0.05, n = 3). (b) The half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of RT2 peptide was then calculated in triplicate using GraphPad Prism version 5. (c) RT2 is predicted to adopt a secondary structure from its amino acid sequence (net charge of +7) using a PEP-FOLD peptide structure prediction server.
