Colon was divided into proximal segment (cecum to descending colon) and distal segment (sigmoid colon and rectum) at the height of the iliac crest. History of laparotomy was classified in major (e.g., gastro-intestinal or uterus resection), minor (e.g., appendectomy) and none. Bowel habits were classified into a daily group (every day), an intermediate group (once every 2 or 3 days) and a constipated group (less than once in 3 days)
