The steepest gradient, which supports the best defined confidence-score thresholding, was always achieved with maximum·median combination. While the difference to other combination methods (and to no combination (none), that is, single integral image classification) was low without occlusion (open field), it was significant in the presence of occlusion (conifer and broadleaf forest).
