Microglia are the predominant cell type expressing cGAS and STING in the CNS. Cell type specific populations were isolated from naïve (uninjured) WT male animals. (A) mRNA expression of gap junction associated protein 1 (Gja1), transmembrane protein 119 (TMEM119), and vascular-endothelial cadherin (VE-cadherin), genes characteristic of astrocytes, microglia, and endothelial cells, respectively. Data is normalized to the characteristic (control) cell type to show the purity of isolated populations. ^#p < 0.0001 compared to control cell type.
