Classic cytokine and chemokine expressions in M2 macrophages and M0 macrophages. RT-qPCR analysis indicated that (a) IL-10 and (b) CCL-13 mRNA expressions were high in M2 macrophages. M0 macrophages expressed higher levels of (c) IL-12 and (d) IL-1β mRNA than M2 macrophages. The distribution of these markers is a classic pattern. Additionally, the lower levels of (e) IL-23 and (f) TNF-α protein and the higher levels of (g) TGF-β and (h) IL-10 protein were measured in the cell culture supernatants of M2 macrophages and M0 macrophages (P < 0.05).
