Study name	Dextrose gel in the management of asymptomatic hypoglycaemia in at‐risk neonates: randomised controlled trial
Methods	Open‐label randomised controlled trial
Participants	284 asymptomatic term and late preterm infants (≥ 34 weeks' gestation), small or large for dates and infants of diabetic mothers. Setting: India
Interventions	40% oral dextrose gel (0.5 ml/kg) versus Intravenous fluids (as per NICU protocol)
Outcomes	Primary outcome Need for NICU admission and parenteral fluids in the first 48 hours of life Secondary outcome Number of babies exclusively breastfed at discharge within 48 hours after birth
Starting date	1 December 2017 (not yet recruiting and the expected duration was 12 months)
